About a hundred employees of HBIS Serbia, together with representatives of the Radinac Local Community, the Cultural and Artistic Society, Active Women and the Fishing Association from this village, participated in a volunteer action to clean the path leading between the factory gates today.

This action with the symbolic name “Green Day” brought together volunteers of different generations with the same goal — to arrange the area that are in daily use by both the employees and locals. During two hours of dedicated work, the participants collected waste, removed outgrown vegetation and cut grass. Over 200 garbage bags were collected, while tractor-trailers carried away the cut greenery. The mowed grass will be used in the households of the locals after drying.

Parallel to this action, employees from the Construction Sector carried out work on concreting the path near the factory, which further improved the safety and functionality of the pedestrian access.

The Deputy General Director of HBIS Serbia, Liangxi Wang, emphasized the importance of such joint initiatives: “Today, together with our neighbors, we cleaned up ‘our home’, removing waste and tidying up the surounding. When I came to Serbia nine years ago, I noticed how beautiful the country is, but also how important it is to raise awareness about proper waste disposal. All the irresponsibly discarded waste eventualy ends up in the oceans and endanger the planet we are leaving to future generations. I’m glad that the company HBIS Serbia fosters good relations with the local community, because through cooperation we come up with the best solutions”, he emphasized. Speaking about the company’s contribution to environmental protection, Wang added: “In the past nine years, we have invested about 300 million dollars in environmental protection — in new fasilities and filters. We found worn-out equipment, but with the construction of new plants, significant improvements were made in reducing emissions. Today, the average emissions at the emitters of those plants are lower than the prescribed standards of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the European standards.”

Among the gathered volunteers were employees from all the Production Plants, from Maintenance, the Production Support Unit, the Environmental Protection Sector, and the top management, such as the Executive Director for Production Vladan Mihailović, the General Manager of Maintenance Bratislav Stojković, the General Manager of Environmental Protection Ljubica Drake, the General Manager of Primary Production Miodrag Minić and many others responding to the action.
