Occupational Safety and Health

In the Company HBIS GROUP Serbia Iron & Steel d.o.o. Beograd Occupational Safety and Health are one of the key objectives of the Company, which has been confirmed by the OH&S Policy.

In pursuance of it, HBIS GROUP Serbia Iron & Steel d.o.o. Beograd aims to follow, develop and apply up-to date approach in creating safe work conditions. Special attention is given to create and develop culture of Occupational Safety and Health, by engaging in this process all employees and developing responsibility of each employee, and especially managers in prevention of all incidents.

In the month of October 2013, certification company SGS Belgrade, in accordance with the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard requirements, audited and issued Certificate of Conformity of ┼ŻELEZARA SMEDEREVO d.o.o. Occupational Safety and Health System.

With gaining of the Certificate it has been confirmed that our Company, by implementing OH&S Policy, as well as the OHSAS 18001:2007 standard, took all required actions in order to establish, document, implement, maintain and continuously improve its OH&S Management System.

By overtaking the Company, HBIS GROUP Serbia Iron & Steel d.o.o. Beograd continued with good practice within the scope of the OH&S Policy. As the key objective has established: ZERO INCIDENTS WITH INJURIES. By acting in accordance with established goal Company maintains:


• Safety Training for all employees
• Basic Life Threatening programs inside all Operation segments
• Training and responsibility of managers to conduct investigations of all incidents (including as well „near miss “incidents).
• Comprehensive Risk Assessment of all work positions and development of Risk Assessment Enactment
• Specific type of education- Safety Conversation (conversation of a manager with employees), after identified violation or failure in area of Occupational safety and health
• Local intranet network for communication in area of Occupational safety and health, in scope of which has been specially developed Safety System for follow up and investigation of all incidents (including as well „near miss “incidents) and safety conversations
• Proactive approach to Housekeeping, with conduction of Continual Improvement process
• Competency Evaluation (Assessment) of managers in the area of Occupational Safety and Health
• Compliance with applicable Laws, Legislations and Enactments
• Line up and Work permit program, training and familiarization of Contractor employees with activities inside the Company
• Communication with all employees through the Occupational Safety and Health Committee and the Collective Agreement.
